Robert Scopinich

Robert Scopinich is a California-based artist whose work is deeply influenced by his love for the ocean. A lifelong surfer, he grew up in a family of boat builders and watermen, which instilled in him a genuine connection to the sea. His paintings reflect a surfer’s perspective, capturing the joy, fear, and awe that all surfers experience.

Although primarily self-taught, Robert has also studied at institutions such as Pratt Institute, the Art Students League, and Santa Clara University. His early work in sculpture earned him recognition in New York’s 57th street galleries. Additionally, his experience as a Visual Effects Artist in feature films has honed his keen sense of light, color, and composition.

As a Malibu resident, Robert frequently explores the coastal landscapes that inspire his art. His original oil paintings beautifully convey the essence of the California coast, inviting viewers to share in his passion for the ocean.
